Northern Italy

It is my last night with our host and friend. Yesterday, I had the best homemade Italian food I think possible. The neighbors of my host taught my wife how to make pasta, the noodles were hand made, the meat sauce was superior to anything I’ve ever had in the United States. The bubbling water and ginger ale were quite interesting. Both red and white vino were local and fresh. Both were dry. The beef ribs were hearty.

Today we enjoyed going to church with our host. He is a pastor, Christian, though we worship differently. In the words of the musical group Casting Crowns, it was great to “Step out of my comfort zone, into the realm of the unknown”. It was a charismatic service and everyone was welcoming and friendly. Many people after the service recommended that I go see The Vatican and how beautiful the Sistine Chapel is.

I took the family for gelato and we walked around with our host family. Kids were out at soccer fields and families leaving a nearby swimming pool. It occurred to me that the last night with our German and our Italian hosts were both out for walks.

Tomorrow, more adventures.

Make It Fun!
God Bless.
